An unusual wind direction sucks water off the lake in the lee of Mount John

The lake begins to rise. Note the tree stump on the point.

The lupins flower around the church. The water level rises up the tree stump.
The majority of fill occurred in 48 hours of rain the the alps.

More Nor-West winds produce rain in the alps.

High rain fall along the Main Divide sees Lake Tekapo reaching a maximum level not seen for a long time. Future rain will probably result in the 'spilling' of any excess water down the Tekapo River and entire Waitaki Valley.
